The rules and orders that underpin our organisation

Copies of all the legislation governing the HCPC are available below. The legislation provides for how the HCPC was established and how it operates.

The legislation includes the detailed rules for several HCPC processes.

Our Rules are made under the Heath and Social Work Professions Order 2001. They are made by HCPC's Council following consultation, and approved by the Privy Council with the exception of the Education and Training Committee (Rules) 2013. These are made by the Council acting alone.

The Rules set out the detailed procedures and requirements for several key HCPC functions.

Rules which have not been amended are provided in their official and original form, published by the OPSI. Those which have been amended have been provided in consolidated form. These have been provided by our solicitors and parliamentary agents as internal working documents and they have no official status.
