Freedom of information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) gives a general right of access to recorded information held by public authorities

FOIA requires us to publish certain information about our activities, enables members of the public to request information from us. The HCPC seeks to operate open and transparent processes and supports the underlying principle of FOIA; that people have a right to know about the activities of public authorities unless there are good reasons for withholding that information.

Publication Scheme

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has published a model publication scheme for all public authorities to enable them to meet their obligations under the FOIA. The ICO has also published a definition document for health regulators which provides guidance on the particular information that the ICO expects the HCPC and other health regulators to provide to meet their commitments under the model publication scheme.

The model publication scheme and the definition document both group information under the following headings. Click on the headings to link to pages which provide detail under each heading for the HCPC.
