To be able to care for your patients, you must take care of yourself. Here are a few tips and resources to help you do that.
Inappropriate relationship with patient
Case study: A psychologist’s employer raised concerns that the registrant had taken a service user on a trip involving an overnight stay in a shared hotel room, bought the service user alcohol and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol in the presence of the service user.
Failure to conduct a full / accurate assessment
Case study: An employer raised concerns about a psychologist who did not report a service user’s suicidal thoughts to their supervisor or any other professionals. This was despite it happening repeatedly and after recording a case note.

Update on the Indicative Sanctions Policy review
In early 2017, the HCPC commenced a review of the Indicative Sanctions Policy to ensure it is up to date, reflects public opinion, and continues to support fair and proportionate decision making. As part of this review we commissioned market research into the public’s views of the Policy and undertook a public consultation.
