Government decision represents a major step forward for patient safety

07 Feb 2019

We welcome the Government’s decision to regulate Physician Associates (PA) and Physician Associates Anaesthesia (PA(A)) which represents an important step forward for public protection.

Marc Seale, HCPC’s Chief Executive and Registrar said:

“As these professions take an expanding role in the health care team, the introduction of legally enforceable standards for professional skills, behaviour and education along with a fitness to practise process will deliver significant benefits to service users, employers, educators and to PA and PA(A)S themselves.

“As an efficient, multi professional regulator, we look forward to the decision on who the regulator of these professions will be.”
