Retention of first-time HCPC registrants

This dashboard follows the registration status of first-time HCPC registrants who joined between 2013 and 2020, showing how long they remained registered over a four-year period.

    The retention was analysed by different categories which are shown on the top menu of this dashboard. The selected category will be highlighted with a blue border.

    • Overall
      Global retention without considering any additional characteristics.

    • Registration route
      Retention by the HCPC registration route, mainly UK (UK and grandparenting) and International (international and EMR).

    • Age
      Retention by age bands, mainly 18-29, 30-39 and 40+, Orthoptists (20-24, 25+) and Prosthetists / orthotists (18-29 and 30+).

    • Sex
      Retention by sex/gender (Female, Male and Prefer not to say). Due to very low counts, the Intersex category is not shown.

    • UK education and training location
      Retention of UK-trained registrants by their training location (England regions, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales).

    • International education and training location
      Retention of international registrants by their training location worldwide.

  • Profession specific cohorts were created consisting of professionals whose first registration fell between the first day of their professions first renewal window on or after 1 March 2013 up until 31 August 2020 (see below).

    When all professions are considered together, or when different professions are being compared, there will be some degree of variation in their cohort times.

    In the most extreme case, for the professions at opposite ends of the renewal cycle, this means their two-year cohorts overlapped by only six months.
