If you are selected for CPD audit, you'll be notified by post and email.
If selected, you'll need to:
- Renew your registration and pay the registration fee (as you normally would)
- Submit a CPD profile by the deadline, which shows the activities you have undertaken since your last renewal
- Provide supporting evidence that shows your CPD meets the standards, including a dated list to help the assessors identify any gaps of more than three consecutive months which have not been accounted for
Everyone selected for audit submits their profile at a set time, during renewal. Renewal dates are the same every two years and are staggered throughout the year.
We will only audit registrants who have been registered for two years or more. This means that if you are a recent graduate, we will not choose you for audit when you renew your registration for the first time. Similarly, if you have had a break in registration and have just come back onto the Register, we will not choose you the first time you renew your registration.
The audit selection is computer-generated at random. As CPD is an ongoing requirement while you are registered, it is possible that you could be picked for audit on multiple occasions.
We recognise that, due to unavoidable circumstances, some registrants may need to defer (put off) their audit. For example, they may not be able to complete a CPD profile as a result of illness, family or personal circumstances or maternity leave. 'Deferral' offers those who cannot complete their CPD profiles due to circumstances beyond their control the opportunity to stay registered.
Registrants who would like to defer must submit their request via our CPD Online system as soon as possible, giving their reasons for deferring and evidence to support it. See here for more information.
Anyone accepted for deferral is automatically included in the next round of CPD audits for their profession.

Processing UK and readmission applications is a priority for us. We will strive to achieve our normal processing times, however, we are subject to limited access to incoming post, so please bear with us.
We are adapting our ways of working and as such are allowing applications for registration to be sent to us by email.

We are working hard to achieve our normal processing times. However, we are subject to limited access to incoming post and this will affect those times. Incoming applications may be subject to delay and we will advise applicants accordingly.
Registrants will understandably be concerned about how they can keep up to date with CPD or have time to submit profiles if chosen for audit at this time.
Individuals should comply with their CPD obligations, where time allows and if it is possible to do so.
In the current circumstances, our Council has taken the decision to cancel the audit process for Physiotherapists and Art Therapists. We have since sent out a written confirmation of this to those selected for CPD.
If you are not one of these professions and have a previous CPD audit which is outstanding you would like to query, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that if you are awaiting for your profile to be assessed, this will still go ahead and we will notify you of the outcome in due course, this only applies to previous audits.
CPD audits for Dietitians, Chiropodists/Podiatrists and Hearing Aid Dispensers will not go ahead for this current professional cycle.
From 1st September 2020, CPD audits will resume, this means 2.5% of operating department practitioners will be randomly selected on 1 September 2020. We will contact those registrants selected for CPD shortly after the selection, to let them know. Those selected will have until 30th November 2020 to submit their profile. Information regarding completing and submitting a profile will be provided within our communication.
We will continue with our planned renewal timelines, but with extra flexibility understanding the pressures our registrants will be under.
We have extended the renewal deadlines for the following professions:
- Art Therapists: deadline now extended to 30 June 2020
- Dietitians: deadline now extended to 31 July 2020
- Chiropodists / podiatrists: deadline now extended to 31 August 2020
- Hearing aid dispensers: deadline now extended to 31 August 2020
We have also written to those select registrants to confirm this in writing.
