If we can't be sure that you meet our standards, we'll refuse your application
To protect the public, we make sure that applicants can meet all the standards relevant to their profession.
If we can't be sure that you can meet them, we'll refuse your application. In this case, we'll let you know this by email and include the reasons for our decision. (International applicants will receive a Record of Assessment for their application.)
If this happens to you and you still wish to be on the HCPC Register, you have two options:
1. Appeal the decision
All applicants and registrants have the right to appeal decisions made by a panel.
To appeal decisions on UK, international, renewal, readmission and return to practice applications, you must send a notice of appeal within 28 days of the refusal. (There is a different process for restoration of title appeals.)
2. Make a new application
You can make a new application if you wish. There's no time limit or waiting period for new applications, but you'll need to make sure you clearly show that you have addressed the reasons your original application was refused. This will involve some work, either on your application or on your practice, and may therefore take some time.
For some refusals, addressing the reasons won't be possible (for example, those made on grounds of character).
