Ian’s race for better mental health

My name is Ian Sturdgess, and I am a Biomedical Scientist who works with the HCPC as a Partner for the International Registration and CPD team. In my spare time I am an active runner and triathlete. Next year I am running the London Marathon 2026 and I chose to run it for the mental health charity MIND.

Mental Health is one of those unseen illnesses that can take many shapes and forms. It can affect anyone. It invades your family life and controls you, whether you like it or not, whether you suffer or are a carer.

My own family have been affected by mental health issues. Although there have been some potential offers of help, this help is disjointed and lacking. It’s an easy option for budget cuts and sufferers often rely on local support and charities.

One such charities is MIND who operate drop-in centres and crisis cafes which offer help and support for those who suffer with mental health issues. A place where you can feel safe. A place where you can talk. A place to be listened to. To run these centres, MIND relies on donations from the likes of you and I, which is why I, along with my friend Yvonne, are running the London Marathon in 2026. It would be great if you could visit our page and donate.
