We’ve commissioned an independent research company, Ipsos UK, to help us gather insights into how HCPC registrants may be using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their daily practice.
The health and care system continues to evolve with the greater use of digital technology. Rapid advances in digital health and AI are transforming clinical practice, making emerging technologies more used and readily available to health and care professionals as part of their daily practice.
As a regulator of 15 different health and care professions, we want to deepen our understanding of if and how HCPC registrants are using new technologies, such as AI, as part of their practice.
Those insights will help us support registrants to adapt confidently to increasingly complex working environments, make the most of new opportunities and use technology ethically and transparently, while improving service user safety and experience.
Survey
In early August Ipsos UK will invite a sample group of HCPC registrants across all professions to take part in a short survey to share their views. Participation is voluntary and any information gathered as part of the survey will be treated confidentially.
In addition to the survey, Ipsos UK have hosted a series of focus groups and are conducting in-depth interviews over the coming months to gain further qualitative insights.
The findings from this research will provide a baseline for future work in this area, helping us strengthen our ability to identify risks, respond to emerging concerns, and provide support where needed.
Helping you to use AI safely and ethically
Also this autumn, we are launching new information as part of our ‘meeting our standards’ resources, to help registrants use new technologies such as AI safely and ethically in line with our standards of conduct, performance and ethics. The information will help registrants by outlining what they should consider to meet our standards when using AI in their day-to-day practice.
