The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is pleased to announce that Dr Iain McGregor, Director of Innovation and Resources at the Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA), has joined HCPC as Adviser to Council on Technology-Led Innovation.

Iain is widely recognised across the public sector for his leadership in innovation and for championing new approaches to risk identification and future focused thinking. His recent work at GIAA includes pioneering the use of generative AI to help government departments explore complex and emerging risks, which supports more robust decisionmaking.

‘Protecting the public into the future requires fresh thinking and a willingness to embrace new ideas responsibly.
‘“Iain brings extensive expertise in innovation, AI, and risk intelligence, and his insights will be invaluable to us as we continue to develop as a modern, responsive and future focused regulator.
‘“I am delighted to welcome him as Adviser to Council.’
The health and care landscape is evolving rapidly. New technologies, including AI, data driven tools, and emerging digital platforms, are transforming how professionals work and how the public interacts with services. HCPC is building its capability to ensure it can best meet its commitment to protecting the public and ensure new technologies are used thoughtfully, safely and effectively.
In his advisory role with HCPC, Iain will support Council in strengthening its strategic oversight of innovation and ensuring the organisation is well positioned to protect the public in a rapidly evolving health and care environment.
On joining HCPC, Iain McGregor, said:

Iain will work with Council throughout 2026 to support the HCPC’s strategic development and help ensure the organisation is equipped to meet future regulatory challenges.
