Welcome to the second Fitness to Practise Annual Report of the Health Professions Council (HPC) covering the period 1 April 2005 to 31 March 2006. This report provides information about the HPC’s work in considering allegations about the Fitness to Practise of our registrants. There has been a substantial increase in the number of allegations made about registrants in 2005-2006. For the first time ever we have received in excess of 300 cases over the one-year period. We are now receiving more complaints from members of the public and we are working hard to ensure that our complaints process is accessible, transparent and fair.
