The HPC welcomes the publication of the Social Work Reform Board’s progress report, ‘One Year On’ and the report’s principle recommendation of a single nationally recognised career structure for social work.

The report sets out five key areas of reform as follows:

- An overarching professional standards framework
- Standards for employers
- Principles that should underpin a continuing professional development framework
- Proposed requirements for social work education
- Proposals for effective partnership working

Anna van der Gaag, Chair of the HPC commented:

"This excellent account of the work of the Reform Board will have far reaching consequences for the social work profession. The HPC looks forward to working with the Board over the coming months on the agenda for reform"

As a new member of the Reform Board HPC is committed to working with the social work community to raise standards and achieve the vision of a safe, confident future for social work.
