Following on from the report of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry.

Professor Zubin Austin from the University of Toronto, Canada, will explore competency and the ways in which it is assessed.

An engaging speaker, with a research interest in professional education and development, he will be exploring views on assessing and maintaining competence and how we can work together to achieve the best outcomes for patients, service users, and professionals. These themes will be explored with reference to the recommendations of the Francis Report and its implications for health and care services.

The event will take place on Thursday 6 February 2014, at Park House, Kennington. Registration will begin at 13:00, tea and coffee will be served. Presentations will start promptly at 13:30. The event will end by 15:30. Presentations will be followed by workshop discussions.

We would be delighted if you or a colleague would like to attend. Places are limited so please email
